We are well into spring in southern New Mexico but the pecan orchards have just begun to leaf out. The trees receive very little water thru the winter and conditions are very dry. This video was shot at one of the smaller farms that had just begun irrigating. Even though it is located along the Rio Grande, that offers no water, as the once great river is dry ten months of the year, perhaps less than that this year. So irrigation is a necessity.

This farm is located in Doña Ana County New Mexico with the Robledo Mountains to the west.

This is my last video for the season before the orchards turn green!
